My name is GENG 耿 /kə̌ŋ/, Mengzhe 梦哲 /mə̀ŋ ʈʂɤ́/
(click for pronunciation).
I am currently a PhD student in Cognitive Science and Language at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
I work on syntax, semantics and their interface, with a particular focus on the theories of verb meaning and motion verbs.
I have done research in both theoretical linguistics and psycholinguistics, including studies on Mandarin Chinese and Shanghai Sign Language (the Shanghai variety of Chinese Sign Language).
I also speak Spanish and would be glad to conduct comparative studies among Mandarin, Shanghai Sign Language, English, Spanish, and even other languages.
In my PhD program, I aim to explore how the three intertwined aspects, i.e., word category, manner and result entailments, and telicity realization, interact within event structure and influence the basic skeleton of a predicate.
